Interim CEO Susan Thigpen
Susan Thigpen joins Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta as the interim CEO with more than 35 years of experience in executive, non-profit and community management. Most recently, she retired from SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, a subsidiary of SunTrust Banks, Inc. as a director in the Financial Services and Technology Division of Corporate and Investment Banking. Her career spanned 32 years with SunTrust. During her tenure, Susan’s responsibilities included leadership positions in corporate banking sales, sales management, human resources management and training.
Her commitment to the non-profit community has long involved her love of Girl Scouts. She served as board chair of Girl Scouts of Northwest Georgia, chair of Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta’s Board Development Committee and has been a member of numerous board committees. Susan is also a recipient of the Thanks Badges I & II.
In addition to her leadership roles with Girl Scouts, Susan served on the board of directors of YWCA of Greater Atlanta and the Schenck School. She is also a graduate of Leadership Atlanta’s class of 1987 and later served on their executive committee. Susan graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. She resides in Atlanta with her husband Bill and son Will.
