Powder Springs Girl Scout Troop Receives Bronze Award

Six girls from Girl Scout Troop #2143 of the Wildhorse Creek Service Unit in Powder Springs have successfully completed all requirements for achieving their Bronze Award, the highest award that a Girl Scout Junior can receive.

Each girl committed to a minimum of 20 hours to the project. The girls — Claire King, Alexis Dorris, Camille Trotman, Catherine Elder, Haley Tillman and Zoe Putnam, under the leadership of Leigh Osoinach King — chose to renovate the outdoor classroom and the Elliot Savary Memorial Garden at Tapp Middle School.

The girls chose the project, coordinated volunteers, solicitated donations and dedicated five weekends working on their project. The work not only beautified the area, but also made it usable for all students.
