Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta > Cookies & Chocolates

General Information

The Girl Scout Cookie Program and the Girl Scout Chocolates & Magazines Program enable troops and girls to generate their own money for activities, camping adventures, international trips and community service projects. The programs also generate funds for all Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta initiatives.

When girls participate in these two product sales programs they gain confidence and develop people skills with every customer interaction. Girls learn how to set challenging goals and how to work together as a team to reach them. Being part of the largest girl-business is not only a valuable learning experience for girls, it’s tons of FUN!

Where Does the Money Go?
All of the proceeds—every penny—that girls bring in from the Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta's (GSGATL) fundraising activities remains in the council, to serve our girls and volunteers in the following ways:

PROGRAM
Deliver the Girl Leadership Experience to over 46,000 girl members in 34 counties spanning 200 miles.

TRAINING
Provide volunteer training to more than 17,000 adult members.

SCHOLARSHIPS
Give over $52,000 annually in scholarships for higher education. In addition, membership and camp scholarships are awarded to girls, whose families need assistance in order for them to participate.

INSURANCE
Provide required insurance for girls and troops to safely participate in activities.

CAMPS
Maintain five camp properties covering 2,400 acres that deliver Outdoor Program. Expenses include insurance, upkeep, proper land stewardship, staff, tents, bunks, tables, commercial kitchens and pool supplies.

COUNCIL SUBSIDIZED ACTIVITIES
Provide financial support for council-sponsored events to keep activities affordable and more accessible for all members.

OPERATING EXPENSES
Maintain four regional Service Centers (Cumming, Dalton, Griffin and Mableton) and five Girl Scout Badge & Sash Stores.
