The Fastest Growing Sector: The Hispanic Community
The Hispanic community has emerged as the fastest growing segment of our communities, yet they have little or no knowledge of Girl Scouting and its benefits to girls, hence our Hispanic Outreach endeavors were initiated.
Girl Scouting values inclusiveness and strives to reflect all its communities. Our Hispanic Outreach programs has become an important initiative to gain girl membership in our Hispanic communities and to grow the understanding and value of every girl having a Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
Growing up can be difficult, but growing up in a new culture is more challenging. The Girl Scouts’ Hispanic Outreach supports Hispanic girls to overcome these challenges as they build bright futures as Girl Scouts. In a safe and friendly environment our girls address what it means to be bilingual and bicultural while they are exploring the world around them.
Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta's Hispanic Outreach works with all grade levels of Hispanic girls together with trained bilingual and non-bilingual volunteer leaders who provide the Girl Scout program.
A strong partnership with schools, community agencies and the Hispanic media is the core of the Hispanic Outreach efforts. Collaboration with community-based service agencies provides connections to the Hispanic community so that we may positively impact the lives of more girls.
Hispanic girls, have a place in Girl Scouts as they develop leadership skills and the confidence to be successful. Through Inspirando Niñas
, we celebrate Hispanic origins and provide programming that touches the Hispanic community.
During the celebration of the Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate our Hispanic Girl Scouts through Inspirando Niñas, a fundraising reception and silent auction designed to raise funds to underwrite the costs of participation in Girl Scouts for Hispanic girls. This includes uniforms, books, awards, registration fees, and transportation.
We ask for your support to help bring awareness to this initiative as we provide programming to the Hispanic community.
