In 2008, Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta launched Coming Home: The Campaign for Timber Ridge, a multi-million dollar capital campaign to establish a permanent Girl Scout Service Center at our Camp Timber Ridge in Mableton, GA. In 2010, we were excited to celebrate the grand opening of our beautiful new LEED-certified headquarters. Our new home at Timber Ridge is just 12 miles from downtown Atlanta and is at the geographic center of our service area. This wonderful new facility represents the centralization of our administrative headquarters, volunteer training and outdoor operations on 228 gorgeous acres.
Thanks to a group of dedicated volunteers, the Coming Home capital campaign has secured $5.05 million in cash and pledges, including a $1 million challenge grant. With the first half of the challenge grant claimed, Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta is moving ahead with the second phase of the campaign to raise the final $2.5 million. Over the next two years, we will be focused on securing support from our corporate partners and our friends in the community.
This physical transformation of our organization enables us to better serve our Girl Scouts in the 21st century. Indeed, the benefit of owning our facility will also produce long-term savings that can and will be reinvested in Girl Scouts for generations to come. We hope you will join us to be a part of this transformation by making a tax-deductible gift to the Coming Home campaign. Thank you for your support!
