Traditional Troop Leaders and Assistant Leaders

Welcome to Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta!

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Girl Scout Troop Leader! As a volunteer, your most important role is to be excited about everything this opportunity affords you: a chance to partner with girls and an invitation to play a critical role in their lives.

What does a Troop Leader do?

Troop Leaders and Assistant Leaders form the core adult volunteer team for a Girl Scout troop. Troop Leaders and Assistant Leaders work in partnership with the girls in their troop to:

  • Deliver the Girl Scout Leadership Experience in an age-appropriate way, using the Girl Scout National Leadership Portfolio
  • Attend and conduct troop meetings
  • Communicate with troop parents and coordinate their contributions to the troop’s success
